Yesterday was Single Saturday…. in which I spent way too long playing with the snatch and looking for the elusive heavy single (these jokes just never get old!)
I woke up with my shoulders hurting like crazy. It hurt to lift my arms above my head and do arm circles… my body felt insanely beat up so to be honest, I was not looking forward to snatching/ clean and jerking. Worse than that, I kind of knew that yesterday definitely wouldn’t be a PR sort of day.
I warmed up for about 30 minutes and still felt strangely stiff. It took me a really long time to work up to a heavy weight for snatch because I wasn’t feeling it. One hour later, I finally matched my previous 130# PR after about 5 failed attempts…. I decided that was a sign to move the hell on and leave it alone.
Clean and jerk was awesome. I hadn’t tried testing a heavy clean in a long time and yesterday hit an easy 170# clean and jerk. The jerk was a little iffy because of how wobbly my arms and shoulders felt. The 175# clean wasn’t all that difficult… little struggle on the way up, but nothing crazy.. but I couldn’t nail the jerk. I jerked it, got under it, started to stand it up, and wobbled to the side. UGH! I’m going to blame that on snatching for an hour beforehand… 😉
So here’s just what I did yesterday in easier-to-read terms 😛 :
Snatch: 60%x2, 65%x2, 70%x2, 75%x2, 80%x2, heavy single
Clean and Jerk: 60%x2, 65%x2, 70%x2, 75%x2, 80%x2, heavy single
Back Squat: 75% 3×5
No met con. This week I did 3 met cons and I think that’s a solid number to stick to. Happy Breaking Bad Sunday!
