Something weird happened on Sunday morning. I was in the middle of snatching/double undering like a wild animal, and then I decided to do some on-the-minute butterfly pullups. I jumped up to the high bar and felt a small “ping” in my hand. Nothing painful, just kind of a weird feeling. Nothing popped/crackled/ anything like that. As soon as I came down from the bar, my thumb was completely numb. Kinda freaked me out but I figured it was because of hook gripping for so long…the base of my thumb had been bothering me because of the hook grip, so I just figured it would be over by the end of my training session. Well, it’s Tuesday, and my thumb is still completely numb/pins and needles-ish. Kinda freaky but I don’t think it’s anything serious. I’m giving it until this coming Sunday (a full week) to go away. After asking around and doing some serious google searching, I don’t think it’s that serious of a thing… just sounds like a pinched nerve that can be fixed through ice and rest.
Well, today was snatch day, and hook gripping with a phantom finger felt weird as balls. The resting thing isn’t really going to work, so I guess I’ll just deal with a tingly thumb for a little while. I haven’t done a metcon since Thursday, so tomorrow I’ll do a good one.
Snatch: 2×5 @ 75%-85%
Snatch Pull: 4×4
Back Squat: 2×5 @ 75%-85%
I made a small tweak to my pull when I was snatching so it took some getting used to at first. I missed quite a few times with weight that wasn’t all that heavy… but that’s okay. That’s all part of the territory with weightlifting 😉 I felt pretty quick today though, which is an improvement from last week when I felt like pure shit. Squatting felt AWESOME… I’m excited to test my 1RM back squat because today felt super light and powerful.
Competition is in 18 days. Still waiting for WODS to be announced….. I can hardly take the suspense!!!!!! More lone ranger met cons to get me prepared to unleash the fury come competition day.
Be smart and have fun!
