As soon as I woke up this morning and read today’s wod, I got a little nervous. It was a repeat wod that we did back when I started Crossfit at Crossfit Haven in May. At that time, I couldn’t do the wod Rx’d. The wod:


60 Bar-facing burpees

30 Overhead squats (125/85)

10 Muscle Ups

Back in May, I couldn’t do the muscle ups. That was back when I studied hours upon hours of videos trying to figure out what the hell I was doing wrong and why the hell I couldn’t do a muscle up. Well, the truth was, I had barely gotten into Crossfit and I just wasn’t strong enough. About a month later, I was able to knock out a few muscle ups here and there. Also, back in May, the RX for the overhead squats was 80 pounds. I was able to overhead squat the 80 pounds, but it felt so insanely heavy that I could barely hold it over head for more than 5 reps at a time. Today, the 85 pounds felt pretty light and was able to get them out of the way pretty quickly. By accident, though, I miscounted my burpees. Any number pretty much over 20 it gets difficult to count .Especially when you’re tired as ball sacks. I still hate ring muscle ups, so I’d be lying if I said I was looking forward to them. HOWEVER, even after 60 burpees and 30 overhead squats, they didn’t seem impossible. They were difficult but didn’t seem so painfully difficult that I couldn’t finish them. It’s just nice to see all of the hours of ass-busting pay off.


Clean: 3×5@ 70%

Back Squat: 5×5@ 80%

Bench: 3×5

Squats felt great, cleans felt great, bench felt great. Overall, everything felt GREAT! Being in a place where you actually are motivated and around people you love makes a world of difference.
