We got a crap ton of snow. It hasn’t stopped snowing for the last 2 days! And I’ve had to shovel the driveway three times already! The annoying thing is the 462 facebook statuses about it… guys, we live in Illinois, it’s Winter…what the hell do you expect?! We had to take advantage of the snow with a little snowWOD!
Basically we just pulled eachother through the snow for 50(ish) meters a few times. Let me tell you, pulling 220 pounds of man on a plastic sled through 3 feet of snow is rough…. and honestly, I think it was more fun in theory (hehe 😀 )
Snatch: All heavy singles on the minute. These felt AWESOME! After watching some videos of myself I think this is the fastest I’ve ever looked. Everytime I get to a certain weight, though (around 90%…. 2 pounds heavier than my 90%, to be exact) I’m not quite sure if it’s mental or WHAT the deal is, but I start missing a lot. I think instead of doing so many singles at 85%-90%, I’m going to start getting used to weight that’s around 80%-85% for doubles and triples. I’d rather not compromise prime form just to say I was able to do a bunch of singles.

Dips felt insanely fast today. I’ve been doing them with a bit of weight added, with an insanely slow decline, plus a really, really deep dip. It’s things like adding weight and making basic movements suck a ton that make them seem easier when it comes time to do them the normal way! That, and I’m (hopefully) getting stronger in my upper body. Which is my hardest area to ‘fix’. Doing this wod after the snowWod frenzy was really difficult, though…. my lungs felt frozen and I was SHOCKED how out of breath I was after the first 1000m! Might have to do some outside running.. it’ll make it suck more so that it’ll seem easier in the long run 😉 Then….
Strict Press: 1 set x 5 reps at 75%, 3 sets x 3 reps at 85%, 1 set x AMRAP at 95%
These, as you can imagine, didn’t go very well. At least on the last set. Next time..
