Today would have been fun if my shoulder didn’t feel a sudden sharp pain that nearly gave me a heart attack (not really, but it did hurt really bad and scare the crap out of me). I was coming up from a thruster and all of a sudden felt a pop and grinding and the bar just flew out of my hands because of the pain. Would have been a good workout had I been okay. Here’s what it is:
Team 1 does 1 thruster. Team 2 does 1 thruster. Team 1 does 2 thrusters. Team 2 does 2 thrusters. so on and so forth. The catch here, though, is that while the other team completes their reps, the other team has to hold the bar in front rack. I started off with 95 pounds and that proved to be way too heavy for something like this. So I moved down to 75 pounds, and then effed up my shoulder. Oh well.
Then…. 8 minute amrap with a partner:
10m Burpee broad jumps (1 partner goes while the other partner rests)
These were fun and very tiring.
Then I practiced some snatching. I’ve been experimenting with the Russian style of snatching, which is a more vertical bar path (that is, the bar doesn’t sweep into your hip crease. Just continues to go straight up). It was a bit awkward at first trying to figure out when to ‘launch’ (jump and shrug), but I actually felt way more control with this method than your traditional snatch.
Back to school tomorrow.
Be smart folks, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
