Yes, you read that right! Today marks the first day of open registration!!!! I have a feeling that this year is going to be absolutely INSANE, in terms of both workouts and in terms of the amount of people that will be participating. I just think it’s such a mind blowing and beautiful thing that people of all forms, shapes, sizes, ages, skill levels, heights, weights, and whatevers are coming together to be part of something bigger than themselves. That’s pretty frickin’ cool.

Today started off with some fun conditioning!

10 Minute AMRAP

8 thrusters (95/65)

6 pull ups

4 pistols

Immediately into:

3 rounds

:45 max burpees, :15 rest

Immediately into:

:30 max rep hang power cleans (135/95), :30 rest

:30 max rep hang power clean and jerk, :30 rest

This was a lot of fun and very tiring. Then I just did a little skill stuff….

Strict Handstand Pushups: 3 sets x 5 reps

Weighted Pistols Holding 25# Plate with both hands: 3 sets x 4 reps (2 each leg)

Then went home and had this absolutely AMAZING lunch that probably totaled about 1200 calories. Holy hell, can KP make a burrito!

I’m not one of those people who follows paleo, simply because with the amount of crap I do everyday, paleo would make me a weakling. I’m also not one of those people who thinks that grains and wheat are the devil, either. I made that tortilla with simple ass ingredients: coconut oil, eggs, whole wheat flour, whole milk. Done deal.

Then, for my PM lift, I was in a pissy mood because my knee was really bothering me and it hurt to do mostly everything. But since it’s my deload, I figured that light weight wouldn’t really be much of an issue.

Clean and Jerk: 5 sets of triples

Power Clean + Power Jerk: 3 sets of triples

Snatch:  5 sets of doubles

Back Squat: 3 sets x 5 reps

single Leg RDL’s: 3 sets x 8 reps each leg, 55# dumbbell

My knee reaaalllllyyyyyy started aching during those back squats, which is why I only did 3 sets. Time to nurse my body and prepare for my competition next week! Food, fish oil, sleep, foam roller. Boom.
