I mentioned in my last post that I train strictly off percentages. I believe there are many advantages to this. I’m not saying this is the best and only way to practice olympic weightlifting; it’s just the route I have been on the past 9 months. I have to say I really like it… Here’s why…
1) I have been focusing on drilling good technique and I like to know its paying off by tracking progress. We find it more efficient knowing what weight to work with. Bettering weights at 70% is important, but its also important to see technical progress with weights at 90% of the lifts.
2) We can better plan for peaks and phases. By planning ahead, our coach has the ability to identify when we should be hitting maximum weights.
3) Our coach has more control. Its nice having the freedom to max out on random exercises, but if the lift doesn’t look all that great, I don’t feel like I’m getting any better. That’s why I like having those percentages and expectations set for the day’s practice.
On a completely different note, I must share my latest obsession… I’ve heard a few people talk about these pancakes… To be honest, they sounded gross because its basically just ripe banana and egg. THESE PUPPIES ARE NOT GROSS AT ALL! THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I could eat breakfast for breakfast, breakfast for lunch, and breakfast for dinner. Its definitely my favorite meal of the day. Anyways, you have got to give these babies a try if you’re a pancake fan or a food fan, really. The consistency of the batter is a bit weird, but they are stinkin’ TASTAAYY!! NO FLOUR either! SIMPLE. Just two ripe bananas, three eggs (four was too many), and maybe some vanilla & cinnamon. Definitely add a bit of baking soda so they rise a tad. Then pan-fry as you would a normal pancake! I was pleasantly surprised! Of course I doused them with sugar… Peanut butter, syrup, and a bit of powdered sugar. Haha. Yikes. I don’t eat like this all the time… But if you like pancakes, give these a shot! I’d say its healthy twist on banana pancakes… that is, if you leave out all the added sugar… 😀
Percentage, Pancakes, Peace. <3
